Board President and Race Director Caitlin Behr, RN, said, "We couldn’t be more excited for this year’s 5k. Every year the energy grows—the runners, the volunteers, and the entire community come together in a way that’s really special. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just showing up for the joy of it, this race is about celebrating movement together in the outdoors, connection to one another, and that incredible finish-line feeling. We’re ready to make this the best Whitaker Wander yet."

The Whitaker Wander 5k was first held in 2019 to support the health center’s programs and bring awareness to all of the services the organization offers the community. The health center fosters community-wide health through quality and compassionate services. These include primary care, dental care, substance use disorder treatment, dietician services, reproductive health services, a teen walk-in clinic, behavioral health care, and care coordination. The organization makes sure that everyone in Mount Washington Valley can access these services through a generous sliding fee scale and other programs that remove barriers to care.

Support from the community makes this possible. Funds raised through the Whitaker Wander 5k will go towards all of their programs, helping to make healthcare accessible to everyone in Mount Washington Valley.  This year, this support is especially critical, as the health center is still recovering from extensive flooding resulting from a plumbing failure this winter.  Community support is also essential to sustaining services as more area residents are losing insurance and relying instead on the organization's sliding fee scale.

“As the new Executive Director, I’m honored to be part of an organization so deeply rooted in this community,” said Audrey Goudie. “Events like the Whitaker Wander are a powerful reminder that health happens both inside and outside our walls—through connection, movement, and shared purpose. Every step taken that day helps ensure our neighbors can access the care they need, when they need it.”

If you are a patient of the health center and the registration fees will make it difficult for you to participate, please call us at (603) 447-8900 during business hours to request a code for free or discounted registration.
